bicycling across america

In the summer of 1995, bored with my job, and hoping to get into shape after years of sitting at a computer, I rode a bike across the USA, following the Adventure Cycling middle route. This route took me from Virginia across the middle of the country, then up the Rockies to Yellowstone, and finally across Idaho and Oregon to the Pacific Ocean.

I visited ten states in 4143 miles, and usually had a good time. Whenever I found a public Internet terminal, usually in college libraries, I sent email to my friends and families. This site contains those emails, illustrated with scanned-in photos of the trip. You can click on any photo you like to see a larger image.
